Ramblings of a Writer Blog

Exciting news from Nicole Edwards!

Happy Tuesday! Yes, it is almost over here and it is over already for some… but, that really isn’t the point. You’re probably saying, “We know what day it is, Nic. Just get on with it.” Ok, I’ll get on with it.
So, I wanted to chat. To tell you what’s going on with me. I don’t do this very often, and I should. I know that. And here I am, and I’m grateful that you’ve stuck with me this long. I promise, it will be worth it, so just keep reading.
We all know that my last book release was on January 7th, 2014 (and if you didn’t know that, now you do). I released Ethan, book 5 in the Alluring Indulgence series – which hit the USA TODAY Bestseller list thanks to all of you amazing, wonderful people. You humble me greatly. I love each and every one of you, and I thank you so much for supporting me and sharing this journey with me.
And because I love you all so much, I promise that I haven’t been sitting around staring at the clouds for these last three months. Really I haven’t. I’ve wanted to, but I haven’t.
No, I’ve been busy. Really busy actually. Several things have happened that have taken some of my time away from writing. Since it was for my family, I figured you would all understand. So, thank you for understanding. Ok, so here’s what I’ve been up to:
First, I bought a house. It’s a really great house, and my kids and my dogs really love it, so that makes me happy. The dogs like having a little more acreage to run around on. It’s not massive, but with four dogs, it gives them plenty of room to roam. The kids like… well, they like everything, but I think they mostly like having their own bathrooms – my 17 year old daughter especially because she doesn’t have to share with two boys. As for Colt, he likes… I don’t know what he likes yet because I think he is just hoping to get through the moving process so he can spend a little time figuring that out. As for me personally, I bought this particular house for the office. My own little sanctuary where I can escape and write and write and write whenever I want without interruption. (By the way, that is a training program the kids and the dogs will have to go through because they don’t seem to understand the “do not interrupt” part of that. We’re working on it.)
Second, I signed with Trident Media Group. TMG is a literary agency who I am truly honored to be with. And things have been a whirlwind since the day that I signed with them. My agent is amazing. He’s coming up with things that, as an Indie author, I never even knew were possible. So, this is a good thing. A VERY good thing. I’ve got more news to come in this area, but for now, I’m keeping it hush hush until everything is final, so bear with me for a little while longer.

Third, I went on vacation. We took a little road trip to Tennessee. We were supposed to stay in a cabin near Gatlinburg, but that didn’t work out as planned. So, after 18 hours of driving and a brief little stopover in Memphis, we’re there, in Tennessee, standing outside of this cabin that we know we can’t sleep in because of the condition, and we’re trying to figure out what we are supposed to do from there. 1,053 miles from home and we don’t have a place to stay. Colt asks me what I want to do, and I’m thinking, wasn’t there this great waterpark resort on the way here? Let’s call them. So, that’s where we stayed. It was great. The kids had a blast. But, I didn’t get any writing done although I really, really wanted to. But, you’ll be happy to know that the very same day we got home, I wrote another 8,000 words and then for the next two days I wrote close to 20,000. Yay me! It was freaking awesome. And I’m very, very happy with it.

Ok, on to the good part. You’ve been very patient. I appreciate that more than you know.
I know what you’re thinking… “What are you writing, Nic?” Well, I’ve been working on the next book in t
he Club Destiny series. If you read Devotion (Club Destiny, #5) then you might remember a little bitty mention of Logan and Samantha in the very last chapter of the book. And you might remember being introduced to Xander Boone. Well, Xander Boone has proven to be my toughest character yet. I knew what he wanted, but he wasn’t forthcoming in how he wanted to get there. So, we’ve spent the last eight months loving and hating each other at the same time. But, this is how it goes sometimes, I guess. He wasn’t happy with where I took the story, so he asked me to rewrite it. I did. And here we are.
The biggest question I’ve received in a while is “When will the next Club Destiny book come out?” Ok, I truly understand. I published Devotion on June 17th, 2013, it is only fair that we see some more Club Destiny. But like I said, Xander was being hard-headed. I am very happy to say that I have a release date and I’m not going to make you wait very long at all. After all, you’ve waited this long.

***Drumroll***
The official release date for Perception (Club Destiny, #6) is…
April 1st, 2014

But that’s not all. I’m also going to give you the cover. I hope to hear what you think because I love this cover so much!

Release Date: April 1st, 2014

Book Description:

Xander and Mercedes both know firsthand what it feels like to be in total control.
The question is…
who really holds all of the power?
Xander Boone has never had a problem going after what he wants. In fact, he has built his life around doing just that. And he has a rather impressive track record. But Xander finds himself up against his biggest challenge yet.
As fate would have it, Xander’s greatest desire is a woman who has always been off limits to him. One he wants more than his next breath. Nothing about her is easy, but then again, things that are worth it never are.
So, when the perfect opportunity presents itself, Xander knows it’s time to call in a favor.
Mercedes Bryant believes there is only one way to do something. She also knows what Xander wants isn’t possible. But she‘s about to learn that you shouldn’t always believe what you think you see.

And Xander is going to be the one to teach her that lesson.
