If you asked anyone who knows me to use one word to describe me, they’d probably say dependable. Maybe loyal. I’m both of those things, sure.

Unfortunately, dependable and loyal didn’t necessarily get you the girl.

I have been secretly lusting for my best friend, Zoey Stranford, for nearly two decades. Our friendship has been going strong since back in middle school, when I was pulling on her ponytail. I liked her, but I never entertained the idea of elevating our friendship beyond platonic boundaries, despite the countless fantasies I’ve indulged in over the years.

So why am I so determined to claim her—in every conceivable way? Probably because we are both at a place in our lives when the puzzle pieces seem to be falling into place. When we decide to stop fighting the attraction, sparks fly. Soon, we’re consumed by passion, burning up the nights and days as we explore each other’s forbidden fantasies.

But can our friendship withstand the strain of a business deal and the introduction of a new friends-with-benefits arrangement? Or will we realize that we’ve been overlooking something much deeper that’s been right in front of us all along?
