Nicole Edwards

Nicole Edwards

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.

Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.

Behind every book is a real person… one who survives on coffee, gets entirely too attached to fictional characters, and somehow convinced herself that writing romance for a living counted as a perfectly reasonable career choice.

Welcome to my little corner of Texas.

🏡 Home

I live just outside Austin, Texas with my husband Steven, our youngest son, and our two four-legged supervisors, Moscato and Hennessy. The dogs firmly believe they run the household, and honestly… they’re probably right.

❤️ My Favorite Love Story

Steven and I met through Yahoo! Personals back when online dating was still considered a little weird. (Yes… before Match.com became a household name.) On our very first date he took me to see Monsters, Inc., and somehow that turned into more than two decades of marriage.

✍️ Before I Became an Author…

Before publishing my first novel, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and spent years working in corporate America. Writing started as a dream I pursued in the early mornings and late evenings until one day it became my full-time career.

I honestly still have moments where I can’t believe this is my job.

📚 Books Are My Happy Place

I don’t just write romance… I read it constantly. You’ll usually find me with at least one book going, and I read every single day.

I love romantic suspense, contemporary, dark romance, erotic romance… honestly, if there’s a great love story, I’m probably interested.

🏈 Things I Cheer Way Too Loud For

  • 🏎 Formula 1 (Red Bull fan)
  • 🏈 Dallas Cowboys
  • 🏒 Dallas Stars… although the Vegas Golden Knights occasionally tempt me away.
  • 🐶 Golden Retrievers
  • ☕ Coffee
  • 📖 Bookstores

✍️ A Day in My Office

Most mornings start before sunrise. I usually begin writing while the rest of the house is still asleep because that’s when the words come easiest.

My office is filled with notebooks, story ideas, stacks of books, and enough sticky notes to confuse future archaeologists. Somewhere nearby there’s almost always a cup of coffee… and at least one dog reminding me it’s time for a break.

A few more things you might not know about me

📖 Nicole Edwards isn’t my real name. It’s a pen name I created by borrowing my daughter’s middle name, Nicole, and my husband and son’s shared middle name, Edward. I added the “s” because it simply sounded right… and more than a decade later, I can’t imagine writing under anything else.

✍️ I’ve been publishing as Nicole Edwards since 2012. What started as a creative leap of faith has grown into a career that still amazes me every single day.

At one point, some of my books were traditionally published, while others I publish independently. I love having the flexibility to choose the path that best fits each project.

🌎 More than 1.5 million copies of my books have found homes with readers around the world. Knowing my stories have reached so many people is something I’ll never take for granted.

🎨 If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself… it’s that I really like being involved in every part of creating a book. Writing is only the beginning. I genuinely enjoy designing covers, planning releases, building my website, creating marketing campaigns, and making sure every little detail feels just right. Some people call that being a control freak. I prefer to think of it as loving the process.

The truth is, if I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me reading, whether it’s at night before I go to sleep (an absolute must for me) or at certain points during the day. My book list is long and grows more and more every day, thanks to the incredible authors who continue to provide endless hours of enjoyment.

I have had a love for reading since I was a kid. It never went away, and then roughly seventeen or so years ago, I ventured into a whole new world of books. I have a long list of favorites, far too many to name them all.

Q & A...

🎶 DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC WHEN YOU WRITE?

I do. Sometimes. Before I start a new book, I create a playlist for that book or I use one I’ve created for the series. I choose the songs as they pertain to the individual characters and the relationship I sense between them. On each book page, you will find the corresponding playlist or you can see my channel on Apple Music. If I am extremely focused, I do not listen to music, however, I will listen to those playlists to inspire me when I am not writing.

We met online through Yahoo Personals (yes, that was before the whole Internet dating craze) in November 2001. We talked via email for a couple of weeks, then by phone for a couple more weeks. When he finally asked me out, I had him meet me over at my parents’ house (I had no idea if he was a serial killer, after all), and he took me to see Monsters Inc. We were married in April 2002, and he’s still putting up with me to this day.

Like most readers, I have my go-to authors. I would say my absolute favorite is J.R. Ward, specifically her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. She writes a world that I find myself getting lost in, find myself wanting to get lost in. I am also a huge fan of J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) and the In Death series. In my opinion, she is possibly the greatest author I have ever read. She writes relatable characters. Other go-tos include Lora Leigh and Suzanne Brockmann.

Yep, you can. I have a Facebook page, as well as a Facebook reader group where I spend most of my time. You can also follow me on Instagram, but be warned, you’ll probably see an overabundance of pictures of my golden retrievers. And last but not least, you can find me on TikTok, where I post a variety of videos pertaining to my life.

At this time (October 2025), I am not doing book signings because of my anxiety. I am always honored when someone requests that I attend a particular signing, but unfortunately, this is not something I’m up for. However, I’ve stockpiled photos from prior events because I love to look back on them and reminisce. Check out previous events.

Because many of my series overlap, the best way to read is based on the overlap reading order, starting with Club Destiny, then moving along to Alluring Indulgence.

However, you do not have to read all the books in the series. The majority of my books are standalone in nature, meaning they are about one couple/throuple and finish with a HEA (happy ever after) or at the least, a HFN (happy for now).

CHECK OUT MY READING LISTS

If at all possible, I do not end with a cliffhanger. There may be a couple of books that have a “leading” ending, but my goal is to end the story with a HEA for the main characters.

The exception is, of course, my trilogies and/or the Brantley Walker: Off the Books series because it is an ongoing serial.

The honest answer is: if I know what’s next, you will find it on my website. I utilize Nicole Nation, my website community for VIP readers, to do First Looks and Sneak Peeks, so if you’re interested in knowing first, I would love for you to join. It’s completely free.

This is a question I get a lot because I tend to have quite a few secondary characters, especially in my series. The short answer is: I do not know. I write the characters that inspire me at the moment. When I start writing a new series, of course, I want all the characters to get books.

Unfortunately, not all characters speak to me when the time comes. I do make an effort to listen to the readers, so when there’s a lot of interest, I try to accommodate. Key word being: try.

Probably not. That’s the answer for nearly any character name you enter in that space. While I have written a couple of sequels, my goal is to write a complete story for the characters. There are exceptions, for example: Brantley Walker: Off the Books, which is an ongoing series that focuses on Brantley Walker and Reese Tavoularis, as well as the members of the Off the Books Task Force.

I write what I love to read. When it comes to the books I enjoy, I gravitate to romantic suspense as well as paranormal all the time. But I love my books with spice; therefore, that is the basis of my overall writing. You will find erotic elements in nearly every book I write.

Absolutely. However, it is going to take time to get the remaining books in audio. Because I self-publish my books in audio, I am required to pay for the narration prior to release. This can be expensive, but I am budgeting accordingly and will get new books released in audio as soon as possible.

I do. I have a review team, which is open to Nicole Nation members. Join Nicole Nation (completely free) for more information.
